Obituary

BOIARDI, Helen E. (Timmons) Lifelong resident of Wellesley died peacefully at home on September 8, 2021. Beloved wife of 64 years of the late Charles Boiardi, loving mother of Steven Boiardi and his wife Mary of Franklin, Sharon Tanner and her husband James of Wellesley, Sheila Berens and her husband William of Wellesley, Cindy O’Connor and her husband John of Andover, and Kim Mahoney and her husband Richard of Wellesley. Beloved daughter of the late Francis and Lucy (Boyle) Timmons. Predeceased by her sister Ann Beckwith and her brothers Francis, James, George and Joseph Timmons.

Cherished Nana of 18 grandchildren Justin and his wife Gabrielle, Greg and his wife Laura, Michael and his wife Chelsi, Andy and his wife Beth, Meghan, Brian, Emily, Katie, Dana, Matthew, Casey, Jennifer, Jake, Kevin, Billy, Kelly, Eric and Nicole. Beloved Gee-Gee to her 10 great grandchildren Lucy, Brooke, Cameron, Charlie, Julian, Emma, Adrian, Jack, Mason, and Isabelle.

Helen graduated from Newton-Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing, class of 1948, and spent her nursing career at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She cherished her role as a nurturing and loving Wife, Mother, Nana and friend to many people over the years. She was happiest in the company of her large and loving family. She particularly enjoyed large family gatherings at her home on Cape Cod.

Helen was an active parishioner at St. Paul Church in Wellesley for many years. Her Catholic faith was extremely important to her in her day-to-day life.

In her later years, Helen showed tremendous grace and courage in the face of many health challenges. With the loving support and compassion shown to her by her extraordinary caregivers including Marilu, Winnie, Connie, Julianna, Shemalie, Rose, and Cheryl, Helen was able to comfortably live out her life at home surrounded by family and friends.

A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Paul’s Church, 502 Washington St., Wellesley on Friday, Sept. 10 at 10:30am. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A private interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Needham. A private visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley prior to the Mass.
