Genevieve B. (Wiecorek) Mias

CHICOPEE – Genevieve B. “Gen” (Wiecorek) Mias, 96, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, August 26, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at the Westfield Center Nursing Home in Westfield surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on January 21, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Frank J. and Mary A. (Warych) Wiecorek. She was raised and educated in Springfield and moved to Schenectady, NY where she met and married her husband before returning to Springfield where they raised their family. She moved to Chicopee in 2015. Gen was employed as a waitress for many years. She was a communicant of the former Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Springfield where she was a Past President of the Rosary Sodality and also a member of the Polish Women’s Alliance. She currently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed reading and gardening and was known for her beautiful collection of angels that she treasured. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bernard S. “Bernie” Mias of 54 years. She leaves her four loving children, Madeline A. LeBeau and her husband, Paul, of Chicopee, Janet M. Zack and her husband, Andrew, of Colorado Springs, CO, Jean E. Fallon and her husband, James, of Westfield and David J. Mias and his wife, Mary, of Feeding Hills; her nine cherished grandchildren, Suzanne Spiry (Kent), Laurie Huard (Steven), Rick LeBeau, Tina Maldonado (Danny), Beth Kroll (John), Carrie Lombardi (Neal), Matthew Fallon (Andrea) and Emily and Marissa Mias; her 14 cherished great-grandchildren; her three cherished great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and friends. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her two cherished great-granddaughters, Abigail and Olivia Huard; her three dear brothers, Walter, Vincent and Stanley Wiecorek; her two dear sisters, Adele Zeronda and Estelle Kusek; and her niece, Terry Pepin. Her Funeral will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Stanislaus Cemetery, 800 Montgomery Street, Chicopee, MA 01013. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
