Jane E. (Unes) Berglund, age 74, of Brockton, died peacefully on August 22, 2021 at the Guardian Center following a lengthy illness. Jane was the loving wife of the late David C. Berglund. Born and raised in Brockton, she was the daughter of the late John and Stella (Slocum) Unes and was a graduate of Brockton High School. Jane’s career was in healthcare, working first at a local hospital and retiring after many years in Business Administration from the Brockton VA Medical Center.
Jane was an avid reader who enjoyed crossword puzzles and her dogs, especially Lulu. She especially enjoyed time with friends going to Bingo and Foxwoods. Strong willed with a bubbly personality, Jane loved to laugh and give advice to others.
Jane is survived by her stepchildren Richard Berglund, Laura Melanson and David Berglund, Jr.; her cousin Josephine Phillips and her son Karl Phillips; her godchild Cheryl O’Malley and Cheryl’s sisters, Lisa Lengowicz and Linda Salmeri. She is also survived by her friend Jan Cloudman. She was the lifelong best friend of the late Dorothy Pittsley.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Tuesday, August 31, from 9:30-11am, with a funeral service at 11am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
