Obituary

Elias Gutierrez-Lebron was born on May 30, 1943 in Arroyo, Puerto Rico to the late Francisco Gutierrez and Margarita Gutierrez. Elias arrived in Boston with his family in the winter when he was 18 years old. He later met his first wife Ghislaine in the South End at a community center. They enjoyed many years together exploring the city, shopping, and raising a family.

Elias started his career at Le Meridien hotel in 1982 where he worked for 31 years. He retired in May 2013 with notable honorary recognition for his loyalty, dedication, and diligence. This carried over into his personal life as he was known to show up to sporting events, graduations, and so much more. Elias was the type of man to offer his time, love, and compassion in any way he could. His smile and laugh were contagious and you could always count on him to have a great story to share and bring laughter and joy to everyone he encountered.

When he was not spending time with family, Elias was very active. He enjoyed bike riding around the city, spending time at Revere Beach, taking long walks in Malden, lifting weights at home, and shopping for antiques.

Whether you called him Elias, Eliah or Papi we all have a special place in our hearts for him as he did for all of us. Family was his world and he held all of us at the center of his, as stories of us have been shared with one another from him throughout the years.

Elias had two brothers who preceded his departure Josue, and Abraham (Laurie).

Elias leaves behind five siblings Francisco, Joel (Priscilla), Margarita (David), Esther (John), and David.

Children: Elizabeth(Michael), Elias (Cynthia), Roberto (Carol), Ghislaine (Gregory), Dominique, Daniella, Shana (Kevin), Karina. Grandchildren: Ayana, Adrianna, Malik, London, Katzia, Kevin, Paris, Nykenge, Roberto, Jacob, Catalina, Bryson, Julian, and Amyr. Great Grandchildren: Benjamin and Zynai.

In addition to those named above, Elias leaves behind a host of beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

We will all cherish the loving memories we shared with our beloved Eliah and hold them dear to our hearts. Until we see you again.
