Obituary

Judith Ann (Manning) Fitzpatrick passed away peacefully on August 7, 2021, in hospice after a long illness. Born July 7, 1946 in Boston, Judy was a lifelong resident of the greater Boston area. Judy spent a majority of her life in the Malden area and was a graduate of Malden High School class of 1964. She is predeceased by her parents, Helen (Wilkins) and John Manning, her step parents, Helen (Hughes) and Charles Eggleston, sisters Helen (Manning) Traniello and Joan (Manning) Ross, and her beloved son, John, Nephew Robert Ross and Brian Higgins.
Judy was a devoted daughter, and took care of all of her parents, especially Charles and Helen Eggleston as they aged. Family was everything to Judy; not just her immediate family, she included nieces, nephews, in-laws, and step relatives.
Judy was known for her quick laughter, interest in people, and devotion to family. She was hostess to family gatherings for holidays and was known for cooking quantities of Italian food from scratch—making sure that there was enough to send leftovers home with family members.
Growing up, Judy was a favorite babysitter for her two younger brothers. She brought lots of Chinese food and ice cream for their endless appetites. As a teenager, Judy was so gorgeous, boys asked her brothers for her phone number in hopes of dating her. Her protective brother would give these boys the phone number of the local police station.
In 1969, Judy married Robert (Bob) Fitzpatrick, the love of her life. They went everywhere as a couple and were referred to as “Judy and Bob”. Rarely did you see them separately. In 1972, their son John was born and Judy was a devoted mother to him all of his life.
She adored her two grandsons, Christian and Brandon. After her son John’s untimely death, her grandsons brought her great solace. She enjoyed watching their sporting events, attending school functions, and supporting them in every way.
Judy is survived by her husband of 52 years, Bob Fitzpatrick, her daughter-in-law, Maria (Gutierrez) Fitzpatrick, grandsons Christian and Brandon Fitzpatrick, her brothers Mark Manning and Charles Eggleston (Cindy), and numerous nieces, nephews and their children.
