Denise A. (Labonte) Pronovost

CHICOPEE – Denise A. (Labonte) Pronovost, 67, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at Portsmouth Regional Hospital in Portsmouth, New Hampshire surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on April 19, 1954, a beloved daughter of the late Henry F. and Jeannette Y. (Archambault) Labonte. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Holyoke Catholic High School and had lived in Chicopee most of her life. She furthered her education and received an Associate’s Degree from Holyoke Community College. She was employed as a Human Resource Benefits Coordinator at the former Spalding Sports Worldwide, which later became Callaway Golf Company, in Chicopee. She currently was employed at WestMass Elder Care in Holyoke. She was a longtime communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee where she also was a member, Past President and Secretary of the Ladies Sodality, a Lector, a volunteer and cook at numerous Church events, a Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Teacher, the Assistant Director of Religious Education and a Pope Pius X Award recipient. Following the closing of her beloved church, Denise became a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee. She also was a volunteer at Lorraine’s Soup Kitchen and Pantry in Chicopee. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, her cherished grandson and her many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, Francis J. “Frank” Pronovost, Jr. who was Called Home on June 18, 2016. They were married on May 9, 1975 at the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 41 years of happiness together. She leaves her two devoted daughters, Karen M. Ruffner and her husband, James, of Chicopee and Andrea S. King and her husband, Jonathan, of Enfield, CT; her cherished grandson whom she adored, Nathan Walter King; her three loving brothers, Donald F. Labonte and his wife, Mary, of Cornelius, NC, Paul H. Labonte and his wife, Trina, of Agawam and David A. Labonte and his wife, Heather, of Granby; her loving sister, Anne M. Wierciszewski and her husband, John, of Holyoke; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Pronovost and Labonte families who lovingly referred to her as “Auntie Dee”. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her dear sister in law, Susan M. Pronovost who was Called Home on March 23, 2021. Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, August 11, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
