Gilbert W. "Gil" Boissonnault

CHICOPEE – Gilbert W. “Gil” Boissonnault, 92, of the Aldenville section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, July 31, 2021. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born at home on Grattan Street in the Willimansett section of Chicopee on January 18, 1929, a beloved son of the late Sirice and Euclida (Plouffe) Boissonnault. He was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in Holyoke before moving to Aldenville in 1956. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and attained the rank of Private First Class. He furthered his education and received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst in 1982 and also graduated the Charles Gaugh Business School in Springfield. He was employed as a Supervisor at local businesses. He was a communicant of the former Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church in Willimansett and currently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Aldenville. He was a member of the Aldenville American Legion Post 337, the Chicopee Lodge of Elks1849 and the Elder Council 69 Knights of Columbus, all in Chicopee. Gil was an avid Yankees fan and enjoyed coaching and attending his daughters’ many sporting events. Above all, he loved spending time with his family, his many friends and joining his friends and the wonderful staff every morning for breakfast at the Lucky Strike Restaurant in Aldenville. He was predeceased by his beloved wife and soul mate, Theresa C. (Archambault) Boissonnault. They were married on October 9, 1954 at the former Immaculate Conception Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 42 years of happiness together. He leaves his three loving daughters, Jo-Ann M. Wagner and her husband, Ken, of Chicopee, Carol A. Prior and her husband, Jeff, of Old Town, FL and Michelle A. Yoder and her husband, Theodore, of Penobscot, ME; his eight cherished grandchildren, Matthew Wagner and his wife, Heather, Nicole Wagner and her partner, Jules, Zachary Wagner and his partner, Cipriano, William Deyette IV and his wife, Lindsay, Brandon Deyette, Brianne Gehm and her partner, Jen, Lucas Yoder and Tate Yoder; his seven cherished great grandchildren, Delilah Wagner, William Deyette V, Olivia and Emily Deyette, Skylar Gehm and Bearet and Summer Chapman; his dear brother, Arthur Boissonnault and his wife, Joan, of Southwick; his sister in law who was like a daughter to him, Linda Himmelreich of Chicopee; and his many nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his two brothers, Bernard Boissonnault and his wife, Claire, and Ronald Boissonnault and his wife, Aline; and his dear sister, Cecile Fleury and her husband, Marcel. His Funeral will be held on Monday morning, August 9, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His Burial with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday morning, August 9, 2021 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot and main entrance are located in the rear of the funeral home at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
