Socorro passed on July 13, 2021, surrounded by her family as she took her last breath at 4:19 am.
Mom, We are grateful for the ability to have been able to express our love for you during your lifetime; your illness as difficult as it was, helped us say goodbye, so I thank God that we sat down for Sunday dinners, that we took road trips, that we resolved disagreements, that we saw you interact with your grandchildren, that we were able to care for you, that we laughed and hugged, that we prayed with you, and as a family that we were able to reconnect and get through the tears together. You have brought us full circle, there are no what if’s, there are no regrets, just love for you. Rest peacefully mom.
As a family we would like to thank the following programs and individuals we have had the pleasure of meeting; your guidance, professionalism, and empathy have assisted us in getting through this difficult process and given our mother the dignity any human being would be proud of receiving. Thank You to Miss. Wilkins (AAA), Mr. K. Smith and Ms. Y. Hernandez (IHSS), The following nurses Elenna, Sandra, Jose, as well as the nurses who came after hours (Assisted Hospice), SW Rosario (Assisted Hospice), CNA Martha (Assisted Hospice), Tiffany, Kathleen, and Chaplain Daniel for your spiritual guidance and wonderful conversations.
Special thanks to Martha Rojas (Public Authority) Thank You for your ability to give such wonderful daily care, you have provided our mother with your special brand of empathy, patience, professionalism, and outstanding care, we cannot count the many times we were told how well cared for our mother was, thank you for always adapting to the ever-changing progression of her illness, and your eagerness to learn about Dementia. We are grateful to every friend that made time to visit and call, as well as the new friendships that have been formed.
Socorro is survived by her daughters Rita Duarte-Weaver (Gary), Marina Roberson (Jeffrey), and Felicia Duarte (Steve). Grandchildren Gary II, Isley and Marina.
