Richard J. Santo Sr., of Reading and formerly a longtime resident of Malden, Passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on July 2, 2021. He was 85 years old.
Richard was a United States Army Veteran and longtime employee of Continental Can Company and the Medford Public Schools.
Richard was the beloved husband of 63 years to MaryJane (Smith) Santo. He was the loving father of Richard Santo Jr. and his wife Kim of Reading, Barry Santo and his wife Rose of Saugus, and Robert Santo and his wife Carol of Peabody. Richard was the dear brother of Virginia Dockery and her late husband John, and the late Joseph Santo and his surviving wife Marie. He was the cherished grandfather of Jennifer, Stephen, and Matthew Santo, Renee Donovan and her husband Ryan, Robyn Santo, and Jason Santo and his wife Carmen. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren, his loving cat Liberace, and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Friday July 9th at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-8pm. Interment will be in Forest Dale Cemetery, Malden.
