RILEY, Catherine E. (Lapsley) “Kay” Of Dedham, formerly of Mission Hill. June 26, 2021, age 86. Beloved wife of the late James M. Riley. Loving mother to Shannon L. Wise of Washington, DC and the late William C. Wise, Kerin B. Crockett and her husband Sean of Shirley, Eileen M. Bacon and her husband John of Milton, James M. Riley, Jr. and his wife Karen of Trumbull CT, Mary Kate Fischer and her husband Rich of Reading, and Michael J. Riley and his wife Linda of Medfield. Proud grandma to Christopher and Timothy Wise, Michele (Wise) Penaranda, John, Bryan, Patrick, and Riley Crockett, Jaclyn, Harrison, Jared, Catherine, and Julia Bacon, Amanda, Kevin, and Maria Riley, Matthew, Benjamin, Sean, and Lauren Fischer, Connor and Maeve Riley. Great-grandma to LJ, William, and Riley Wise, Clayton Wise, and Evelyn Penaranda. Kay is also survived by her sister Mary (Lapsley) Groden, her brother Robert Lapsley, and a large extended family of many loving nieces and nephews.

One of 11 children to the late William A. and Catherine F. (Hunt) Lapsley of Mission Hill. Married to Jim for 65 adventurous years. Started their life together in Japan, then moved back to Boston and settled in Dedham to raise their 6 children. Kay worked as a Sales Associate for AT&T in Boston for many years, then later as a librarian at the Dedham Public Library, Endicott and main branch. Kay volunteered at the Dedham Food Pantry. Over the years, Kay and Jim traveled to Florida, California, Arizona, and Ireland. Her most cherished times were those spent with family celebrating birthdays, holidays, many school and sport events and sharing a cup of tea at the kitchen table.

Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, on Thursday, July 1 from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Friday, July 2 at 10am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 11am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Kay’s memory can be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, 420 High St., Dedham, MA 02026.
