Obituary

John Edward Pulido Sr., lifelong Ventura County resident passed away unexpectedly June 17, 2021. He was member of long time Ventura Chumash family, going back some 13 generations. John’s parents, siblings, sons Adam and Mark, nieces and nephews surrounded him at the time of his passing.
John was born along with his twin Edward, to their parents Mike and Carol Pulido in Ventura on August 19, 1970. He lived his entire life in Ventura County and spent his early years on the Canet Ranch (Rancho Canada Larga) where his grandfather Mike Flores Pulido managed for many years. In 1975, the Pulido’s moved to Oak View-Ojai area where John and Edward met so many of their lifelong friends, and where John played baseball, rode dirtbikes, and got into as much trouble as he could. John and Edward served as Altar Boys at the Old Mission for many years. Oak View was a happy place for him, and many years later his path led him back there. He attended Oak View Elementary, De Anza Middle School, Ventura High School, and Lu Ross Barber Academy. John was a well-known Barber for more than 25 years following in the footsteps of both his parents.
John loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman since he was a young boy, and spent countless days fishing local lakes, along the Rincon, and in the Eastern Sierra. His passion was watching football, as he was a die-hard Raiders fan! John had an enormous heart and was always willing to help someone in need no matter his or her walk of life. We are saddened by John's early passing knowing that he is completing the journey that the Creator had planned for him. John's mind, body, and spirit are finally at peace again in the wholeness of his being.
John is survived by his parents Mike and Carol Pulido, wife Yvonne Varela-Pulido, their son John Edward Pulido Jr, Rhonica and their sons Alex & Adam Barrios (wife Izamar), Mark Rodriguez (wife Ashley), and grandkids – Robert, Edward, Raymond Rodriguez, Isaac and Victoria Barrios – and step-children Brianna & Joseph Padilla. John leaves his brothers Marty, Mark, and twin brother Edward John (partner Joel), sisters Raylene Lopez (husband Danny) and Carrie Pulido (partner Rigo), Uncles/Aunts Dr. Alex & Anita Pulido, Ermalinda & Johnny Lorenzana, Angelina & Ray Zavala, godparents Pat & Leo Lopez and all of their extended families. John was especially close to his many nephews, nieces, cousins and godchildren: Sierra, Rubi and Rose, Gabby Lopez & Andy Arrieta Jr., and always wanted them to know how special they were to him.
John was preceded by his grandparents Mike and Carmen Pulido, Edna and Philip Rodriguez, Grandma Louisa McLean, Cousin Lisa Pulido, David Betti, Joel Adame and many other relatives and friends.
