BURGER, Irene M. (Nee O’Connor), 95 of Framingham, MA formerly of Whitestone, NY, died while in hospice care on June 21, 2021 at St. Patrick’s Manor. Beloved wife to the late Edward and devoted mother of Edward Burger (Jane), Jean Marie Gonzalez (Joe), and the late Robert Burger. Cherished grandmother of the late Joseph (“Joey”), Lauren John (Chris), Amy Barton (Gregg), and John Burger (Livvy) and great-grandmother of Brayden, Sam, Sarah, June Poppy, and Franny Irene.
Irene was born in 1925 in “The” Bronx, NY to David and Irene Mary O’Connor. Irene was a longtime resident of New York City, residing for 60 years in Whitestone. She relocated to Framingham, MA after a series of illnesses in 2012 where she resided in Mt Carmel Terrace Independent and Assisted Living and was shortly thereafter moved to their skilled nursing facility, St. Patrick’s Manor. For the last 9 years of her life, Irene was cared for by the Carmelite Sisters, whose mission is to bring dignity and quality of life to the care of seniors.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Church in Wellesley, MA on Monday, June 28, 2021 at 10 AM. The burial will be at 1 PM on Tuesday, June 29, 2021, at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY, where she will be laid to rest with her husband Edward and son Robert.
