Laura Rose (DiFabio) MacDonald died peacefully on June 9th, at the Salter Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a lengthy illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel C. MacDonald also of Malden.
Born and raised in Malden, Laura was a daughter of the late Dominick and Felicia (Verdone) DiFabio. She was educated in Malden schools and a graduate of Malden High School.
In her younger years and while her husband Danny was still with us, they enjoyed time together supporting and attending events to support the veterans at the Malden Veteran of Foreign Wars (VFW Post#639). Just as special, Laura and Danny cherished their time working with other adult instructors to nurture and mentor pre-teens and teenagers in Drum & Bugle Corps and were co-founders of the Ambassadors Drum & Bugle Corps of Malden Massachusetts.
The family extends their sincerest appreciation to the Salter Rehabilitation and Nursing Center of Woburn, Beacon Hospice of Charlestown and Mystic Valley Elder Services of Malden for all of their support and professional services that were extended to Laura and her family over the past several years.
Laura is survived and will be deeply missed by her adult children, Lawrence and his wife Susan of Olean NY, Kevin and his wife Vicki of Myrtle Beach SC, Daniel and his wife Kathleen (deceased) of Olean NY and Robert and his wife Judy Ann of Billerica MA. Laura was the cherished grandmother to Melissa, Sean, Lawrence Jr., Jennifer, Joseph and Danielle and great grandmother to 8 great grandchildren. Laura was the remaining sibling of the 2nd generation “DiFabio’s” and has joined her deceased sisters Elizabeth “Betty” and Cetaphina “Frances” as well as her deceased brothers John, Albert, Mario, Robert, and Dominick.
Funeral will be held from the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Thursday June 17th at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Sacred Hearts Church, 297 Main Street, Malden at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 3-7pm.
Interment will be private.
