Patricia “Trish” (Gale) DeMarco, 70, of Rockport, MA passed away peacefully on May 30, 2021, with her family at her side. She bravely battled cancer for two and a half years and fought until the very end.
Trish was born in Townshend, VT, which always held a special place in her heart, and she returned there often. She grew up in Rockport and spent many years as a nurse caring for people within the community. She was very fond of her gardens, and loved taking long walks around the South End. She appreciated always being close to the water and especially loved Cape Hedge Beach.
Her childhood was spent helping her family run the Rocky Shores Inn & Cottages in Rockport, where she and her siblings took on a variety of innkeeping duties and met guests from all over the world, some of whom became lifelong friends. Decades later, she returned to Rocky Shores to help her daughter and son-in-law as the “Property Manager” for their rental cottage, once again greeting guests and telling them stories of her idyllic upbringing by the ocean.
Trish also enjoyed traveling and had some more recent exciting adventures to Costa Rica to do yoga and find sloths, to Iceland to climb a glacier, and to Ireland for a family wedding.
Above all, Trish’s happiest moments were spent with her daughter Kara and granddaughter Olivia May, who were her everything. When Trish found out she was finally going to be a grandmother, she nearly exploded into a million little pieces of happiness. It was a true joy to see them together.
Trish was the daughter of the late Wetzel and Gladys (Burbee) Gale. She was the beloved Mum of Kara DeMarco Dalius and her husband Mark. Trish was the loving sister of Janet Gale O’Donnell and her husband Thomas, Priscilla Gale-Gibson and her husband Clark, Jane E. Gale, Beau L. Gale and his wife Nikole, and the late Jan M. Gale. She was the cherished Grammy of Olivia May Dalius. She is also survived by many special nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service for Trish at Bondville Cemetery, Rt. 30, Winhall, VT on Sunday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Trish’s memory to the American Cancer Society or Lymphatic Education and Research Network.
