Thomas B. Zoppo, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2021 in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Formerly of Canton, Falmouth, and Portsmouth, RI. He was born in Roslindale, MA to Rocco and Elizabeth (DiMuno) Zoppo. He was a US Navy veteran of WW II, assigned to the USS Frank Vinop and the destroyer USS Higbee. He graduated from the University of Georgia, Class of 1949 and was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi national honorary scholastic society and Beta Gamma Sigma business honor society. After completing his studies, he joined the family construction business, R. Zoppo, Co., and enjoyed a rewarding and distinguished career. He was past President/Treasurer of R. Zoppo Co., and past member of AGA and the Utility Contractors Association and remained very active until taking ill in 2011. He traveled extensively, enjoyed reading the Wall Street Journal, researching stocks and bonds, and constructing intricate airplane and ship models. He will be forever admired for his organization and attention to detail, fierce independence, and courage and determination in the face of significant adversity. Tom is survived by his children Br. Thomas Zoppo, FSC of West Palm Beach, FL; Richard and his wife Jane of Walpole, MA; and daughter Nancy Stanton and her husband Michael of Foxboro, MA; stepchildren Debra Johnson of Hollywood, FL and Sherri Lynn Turay of E. Providence, RI; nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and many extended family members. He was predeceased by his first wife Anna and second wife Joan; his brother William; and daughter Julie. Family, friends, and other loved ones are invited to a funeral service for Tom and his wife Joan on Thursday, June 17 at 10 AM at St. Gerard Majella Church, 1864 Washington Street, Canton, MA. Rev. Rocco Puopolo, Director of Our Lady of Fatima Shrine in Holliston, MA, will preside. Burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery, Hyde Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Thomas Zoppo Scholarship Fund at Xaverian Brothers High School, 800 Clapboardtree Street, Westwood, MA 02090.
