Robert B. Melchin, age 70, of Canton passed away suddenly May 27th at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Boston. Born in Boston, he was raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School and Stonehill College. He worked as a Programmer for the Massachusetts Department of Transitional Assistance for many years before retiring in 2012. He was the former President of the Board of Trustees at Canton Village, a member of the Ponkapoag Golf Club, and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. John’s Church in Canton. Beloved son of the late Marie A. (Maioli) and Alfred F. Melchin. Brother of Laurie E. Stables and her husband John of Attleboro and David B. Melchin and his partner Steven Wilkinson of Stoughton. Uncle of Maria Lindholm and her husband Heath of RI. Also survived by his grandnephew Bruce Lindholm. Visiting hours at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home 455 Washington St. Canton Tuesday 4-7 pm. Funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Church Canton Wednesday morning at 11:30. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery.
