Catherine C. (Caron) Dionne, 72, a resident of Salem, passed away on April 8, 2021 at the Lafayette Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility in Marblehead, following a long illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Robert R. Dionne.
Proudly born and raised in Salem, she was only child of the late Arthur “Pete” Caron and the late Christine E. (Samolchuk) Caron. Cathy was a graduate of Salem High Class of 1967. Prior to her retirement , she worked for the Salem School Department as a library Aide at Middle School East and also as a hall monitor at Salem High School.
Cathy was extremely proud of her Salem Heritage and loved telling people, including strangers, where she was from. Cathy had a great sense of humor and enjoyed having a good time dancing at many varied social gatherings. She was also a huge fan of Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots and rarely missed a game. Cathy was a devout Catholic and attended mass regularly at the Immaculate Conception Church in Salem. She was well liked by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
She is survived by her sons Robert Dionne and his wife Christina of Ostrander, OH, and Marc Dionne and his fiancée Jennifer Berghelli of Medway. Cathy absolutely loved her grandchildren Reagan and Chase Dionne and step-grandchildren Landon and Gavin Yates. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. She loved her extended family, the Wilsons. She especially enjoyed playing cards with her best friends Claire Wilson ad Lucille Hodgdon and time spent reminiscing with one of her oldest friends, William “Wilmo” Masterson.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Blvd, Salem on Friday, May 28, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. Her Committal service will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
