Janet M. “Gigi” Malatesta, of Nahant formerly of Malden, passed away on May 13, 2021. She was 91 years old.
Janet was a longtime employee of New England Telephone Company and was one of the first woman to break the glass ceiling into a prominent managerial position. In addition, she was an adventurist world traveler visiting every continent throughout her life. Janet was a longtime parishioner of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Malden. She loved bowling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with her family.
Janet was the daughter of the late Antonio and Gioina (DiSario) Malatesta. She was the sister of the late Edith Malatesta, Peter Malatesta, Frederick Malatesta and Lawrence Malatesta and his surviving wife Patricia. Janet was the loving aunt of Richard Malatesta and his wife Vittoria, Karen Malatesta, Laureen Berkowitz, Marc Malatesta, Stephen Malatesta and David Malatesta. She is also survived by great nieces and great nephews.
The funeral will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Tuesday May 18th at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in the Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant Street, Malden at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7:30pm. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
