Florence L. (Sousa) Leclerc, 91, of Salem, passed away peacefully at Hathorne Hill in Danvers, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Lucien A. Leclerc with whom she shared fifty two years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Katherine (Mello) Sousa. As a young woman and prior to her marriage she was employed by the former CBS Hytron in Salem. Following the couple’s marriage in 1951, she devoted her time to the care of their young and growing family. Her life was centered on home and family.
Florence was a lifelong member of St. James Parish in Salem. She loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and music.In her later years,she enjoyed traveling, whether it was a short trip to the White Mountains of New Hampshire, or the crystal blue waters of Bermuda. She will be missed by many.
Florence is survived by her four sons; John L. Leclerc and his wife Elizabeth of Salem, David M. Leclerc and his wife Elaine of Peabody, Michael S. Leclerc and his wife Diane of Middleton, Christopher R. Leclerc and his wife Leandra of Peabody, her two daughters, Cynthia A. Famolare and her husband Joseph of Boxford, Patricia A. Bouchard and her husband Michael of Peabody. She also leaves 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her brother, James (Jimmy) Sousa and her sister Mary Potter both of Peabody, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Brian, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.
Relatives and friends are invited to her calling hours at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St. [Route 114 / 1-A] Salem on Friday, May 7, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. Her mass of Christian Burial will be on Saturday, May 8th at 11:00 AM,at St. James Church, 156 Federal St., Salem, followed by her burial in St. Mary Cemetery, Salem. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a memorial contribution to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation (cerebralpalsyfoundation.org) or Care Dimensions (caredimensions.org), formerly Hospice of the North Shore.
