John J. McCormick

John J. McCormick, a longtime Woburn resident passed away peacefully at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington following period of declining health. He was 75. John was the beloved husband of the late Cecile (Reader) McCormick. Born in Somerville he was son of the late Edward J. and Dorothy (Beresford) McCormick.

Raised and educated in Somerville, John was a 1963 graduate of Somerville High School. He proudly served in the United States Army for short period of time. Jack was a talented pipefitter and HVAC technician and was a longtime member of the Pipefitters Union Local 537 of Boston. For over 25 years he successfully owned and operated his business, Mechanical Air of Woburn, prior to his retirement.

When not working John loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to Aruba spending time on the beach and going to the casino. He was huge Boston sports fan holding season tickets for several teams over the years. However, his greatest joy was his family and sharing time together with them whether on family vacations, the holidays, or just regular family get togethers. He will be greatly missed.

He is the devoted father of Jennifer Scali and her husband Rocco of Burlington, Jason McCormick of Billerica, and the late John A.E. McCormick. The loving grandfather of Nicholas, Alexandra, and Christopher Scali. Brother of Richard McCormick of Grove, OK and his late wife Carole, Mary Trimble and her husband Dick of Waltham, Patricia Quinlan of Somerville and her late husband Paul, Dorothy McLaughlin of Walpole and her late husband Bob, Elaine Weddleton and her husband Bob of Ft. Myers, FL, and the late Edward "Buddy" McCormick. Brother-in-law of Steve Castelli of Burlington and his late wife Eileen, the late Robert and Janet Toomey. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends. John is also sadly predeceased by his cherished pet dog "Nico".

Funeral from the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., WOBURN, Saturday, April 24th, at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Anthony Church, 851 Main St., Woburn, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford. Late U.S. Army Veteran. All attending must wear a face mask and adhere to social distancing protocols.
