Obituary

Carol J. (Fitzpatrick) Elliott, 82, of North Providence, died Wednesday, March 31, 2021 peacefully at home after many months in hospice care. She was the beloved wife of John “Jack” Elliott. Carol and John were married in Las Vegas, NV and were together for 57 years.

Born in Providence, Carol was the youngest of three daughters of the late Charles J. and Hazel (Howe) Fitzpatrick. Carol graduated from The University of Rhode Island where she was lovingly known as “Fitzie” within her sorority. She lived the majority of her life in Rhode Island. She also spent time working in Cape Cod, MA, Miami, FL and several years in Southern California. She was a former teacher in the Warwick, North Providence and Lompoc, California school systems. She was the co-owner of Apple Valley Hobbies and retired from MetLife after 10 years of service.

Carol loved music and was an avid reader. She enjoyed traveling, timesharing, camping, outdoor activities, writing family poetry, playing board games, dancing, cooking, baking and animals. She enjoyed going to Block Island, Wallum lake, Sand Hill Cove and visiting with her sister at Boone lake. She spent many years attending and volunteering at Cajun and Bluegrass festivals in Rhode Island and New York. She was fond of theatre and live music. The Blackstone River Theatre was one of her favorite venues. Friends, food and music at German Picnics and cultural events were favorites as well. Carol was always “up for something new” whether it was a destination or restaurant. She loved parties and particularly enjoyed the festivities and music surrounding Christmas. She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and an active school volunteer.

Fondly known as “Nana”, she was adored by her four grandchildren and loved attending all of their various school activities, recitals and sporting events. She cherished time with family and friends and always enjoyed the antics of the family pets. Carol was a beautiful, kind, gracious and loving woman and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her children: Lisa Elliott and her husband, Charles Rejto of Riverside, Mark Elliott and his wife, Michelle of Coventry, Kristin Elliott-Stebenne and her husband, David of Lincoln. Her beloved grandchildren: Katherine Rejto, Laura Rejto, Cooper Stebenne and Finley Stebenne and her sister, Virginia Bainton, of Warwick. She was the sister of the late Claire Luther, of Indiana.

In compliance with current Covid 19 restrictions and guidelines, the service will be private for her family.
