Obituary

Mary E. Peloquin, 91, of Windward Circle, Narragansett, formerly of Danecroft Avenue, Greenville, died Thursday, March 25, 2021 at St. Clare-Newport. She was the wife of Lionel R. Peloquin. They had been married for 68 years.

Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John P. and Margaret M. (Greene) Langton. She had most recently lived in Narragansett after returning from Florida.

Mary had been a first and second grade teacher in the North Providence, Johnston and Scituate school departments.

Mary is survived by her children: Sheila M. Layfield, of Smithfield, John F. Peloquin of Inverness, FL and Thomas J. Peloquin of Mauldin, South Carolina, her four grandchildren: Stephanie M. Malo, Paul J. and Michael S. McGinn and James T. Peloquin and her sister: Margaret M. Smith of Scituate. She was the mother of the late James L. Peloquin and Eleanor “Ellie” McGinn, sister of the late Joan M. Jerome and John P. Langton, Jr. and mother in law of Dennis J. Layfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday at 11am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville. Face Masks and social distancing will be required. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery, North Smithfield. Visitation Tuesday morning 9:30-10:30am. Face masks, social distancing and occupancy limits will be adhered to during visitation.
