Obituary

RILEY, James M. Longtime Dedham resident formerly of Hyde Park, February 28, 2021. Beloved husband of Catherine E. (Lapsley) for sixty-four adventurous years. Jim was a devoted father to his six children, Shannon L. Wise and her late husband William of Washington, D.C., Kerin B. Crockett and her husband Sean of Shirley, Eileen M. Bacon and her husband John of Milton, James M. Riley Jr. and his wife Karen of Trumbull, CT, Mary Kate Fischer and her husband Rich of Reading, and Michael J. Riley and his wife Linda of Medfield. Jim’s pride and joy was his twenty-one grandchildren, Christopher Wise, Michele Penaranda, Timothy Wise, John Crockett, Bryan Crockett, Patrick Crockett, Riley Crockett, Jaclyn Bacon, Harrison Bacon, Jared Bacon, Catherine Bacon, Julia Bacon, Amanda Riley, Kevin Riley, Maria Riley, Matt Fischer, Ben Fischer, Sean Fischer, Lauren Fischer, Connor Riley and Maeve Riley. Jim experienced the joy of his five great-grandchildren, L. J. Wise, William Wise, Riley Wise, Clayton Wise and Evelyn Penaranda. Brother of Nancy Faherty of Dedham, Dorothy Stahley of West Barnstable, and the late John, Philip, and Mary Riley. Jim also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and a large extended family.

Jim grew up in Hyde Park and was a graduate of Mission High School, Class of 1953 and Northeastern University Class of 1963.

Jim was a member of the American Legion Post 18 and Lost Brook Golf League. Jim served as a consultant for the Town of Dedham Planning Board.

Visiting hours at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., DEDHAM, on Friday, Mar. 5 from 4-8pm. Funeral from the funeral home on Saturday, Mar. 6 at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham at 10am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Please follow all Covid-19 guidelines. Interment in Brookdale Cemetery, Dedham.
