Donald H. Russell, age 84, of Norton, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen M. (Langill) Russell, to whom he was wed for nearly fifty-nine years at the time of her death on April 15, 2017.

Born in Brockton, MA on May 27, 1936, he grew up in Canton and was a 1954 graduate of Canton High School.

Prior to retiring, Mr. Russell had worked as a supervisor at the Emerson & Cummings Company in Canton and also tended bar at the former Regent Café in Mansfield. He had made his home in Norton for the past fifty-six years and was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church.

Donald loved spending time with his adoring family, had a lifelong passion for sports and was the number one fan of the Green Bay Packers. He served as a past president and coach for Norton Little League and as a high school and Pop Warner Football referee. He was also a member of the King Group at Lakeville Country Club and the Mansfield Lodge of Elks.

The Russell family would like to extend their sincere gratitude and thanks to Jill Sheehan for the exceptional love and care she gave to Donald.

He is survived by his devoted children: Martha F. Jackson and her husband Michael of Attleboro, Patricia A. Cannata and her husband Brian of Attleboro, Gary M. Russell and his wife Heather of Norton, Michelle M. Russell and the late Leonard “Fred” Russell and the late Donald H. Russell. He was the cherished grandfather of Erin, Brendan and Colleen Jackson, Ashley, Emily and Michael Cannata, Nicole Robert, Krystal Eldredge, Corey and Jennifer Russell and the great grandfather of Miss Lilly, Connor, Logan and the late Clara. He was the dear brother of the late James Russell, the late Harriet Chamberlain and is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, February 28th from 4:00-6:00 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Avenue) Norton.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 1st at 11:00 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will be held privately at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, Donald’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to the Kyle Bishop Foundation, 33 Goldenwood Drive, Norton, MA 02766.
