Obituary

Harry Hagop Misakian passed away February 10, 2021 in his recently adopted home of Fort Myers, Florida at the age of 94.
Harry was born in Boston on June 27,1926 to Nevart (Haroian) Misakian and Hagop Misakian and grew up in Watertown, MA.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Jane Misakian, as well as his four children, Cathy, Patricia, Lisa - her husband Brent, James - his wife Reyna; and his three grandchildren Corey, McKenzie and Hope. As well as his dear sister Penny (Arpene) O'Brien.
He was a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy where he earned his degree in electrical engineering. He went on to serve in the Merchant Marines. Later he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy, where he served for 20 years. During his service, he met Jane and they married 3 months later. After retiring from the US Navy, he moved to Norwell, MA and went on to work as a stockbroker and financial advisor.
To say that Harry was an enthusiastic athlete would be an understatement. He played football and hockey at Watertown High School and football at Mass Maritime. He played hockey well into his 60s in various “Old Timers Leagues” on the South Shore. When he retired to Edwards, Colorado he racked up multiple 100 day ski seasons, and volunteered for Vail Resorts and the Vail Valley Foundation. Finally, and reluctantly, he hung up his skis at the young age of 87.
Harry was an avid traveler who had been around the world multiple times and visited all seven continents. When asked recently about the best part of his trips he said “definitely meeting the penguins in Antarctica. I felt underdressed when they came up to greet me. Next time, I'm wearing my tuxedo. And of course, having my darling wife Jane by my side to share it with me.”

Private funeral services will be held at Saint James Armenian Church, 465 Mount Auburn Street, Watertown to be followed by private cemetery services at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge. Due to the ongoing Covid - 19 pandemic, current public health and safety measures will be followed. Social distancing and facemasks will be required for everyone’s safety.
