Obituary

Anthony Moneikis passed suddenly on Wednesday, February 4, 2021. He was lovingly known as Tony or Uncle Tony to his many friends and relatives. Tony was a lifelong resident of Brockton, attending Brockton public schools and went on to graduate from Boston University. Tony proudly served in the United States Army and was an Airborne Paratrooper serving in the 82nd airborne division. He was stationed at numerous bases throughout the nation.

After his military service, Tony returned to public life and spent most of his work career in the insurance industry and was a lifelong employee at the P.J. McDonough Insurance Agency in Boston. He became office manager for the firm and handled many responsibilities including providing services for many high -profile clients with specialized insurance needs. When Tony was not working in Boston he could often be found working in his father’s bakery, Moneikis Lithuanian Bakery on Ames street, making bread, donuts and other pastries.

Tony had many interests including being an avid reader of both fiction and non-fiction books. He was an enthusiastic supporter of the Brockton High School music program attending seasonal performances and enjoying the football half-time shows. Tony and his mother, Helen, were both football fans and for many years enjoyed attending Brockton High School football games as well as Boston College football games. He was also an ardent supporter of the Syracuse Football team.

Tony is predeceased by his father, Anthony Moneikis, his mother, Helen Moneikis, uncles, Edward Zamaitis Sr., Albert Zamaitis, Ralph Zamaitis, John Zamaitis, and his aunts, Mary Zamaitis Maynard, Josephine Zamaitis Campion and Roberta Zamaitis. He is survived by 18 cousins and many close friends.

A memorial gathering celebrating Anthony’s life will be held Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton, Mass. from 11am to 12pm with a funeral service at 12pm. In following COVID guidelines, masks must be worn and social distancing observed. There is a maximum of 40 people in the funeral home at any one time.
