Obituary

Haroutioun Ohannessian unexpectedly passed away on January 23rd, 2021. He was 74 years old. He was born 1946 in Beirut, Lebanon and immigrated to the US in 1978 where he settled in Watertown, MA. He decided to live the rest of his years in his Motherland, Armenia where he excitedly moved to just 1 month prior to his untimely death. He has now joined his family members where he preceded in death by; his Parents Khatchadour & Yeprouhie Ohannessian, Brothers Hagop & Haig Ohannessian, Sister Vartouhie Ohannessian and several other members of his family that were dear to him.

He was the proud father of Laena Ohannessian and Mireille Ohannessian & partner William Earl Moragne Jr., Loving grandfather to Antranig, Raquelle and Layla. He is survived by his wife, Alvard Ohannessian and former wife, Vehanoush Sarkissian. He is also survived by his brother Nazareth Ohannessian and wife Jeanine, brother Ohanness Ohannessian and wife Nazeli. Harout also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and grandnieces & nephews that he loved dearly and regarded them as his own.

Harout was a man of faith, charm and full of character. He was best known for his incredible voice that filled concert halls in the 70's as well as singing in the church choir his whole life. His passion was his family and his faith in God. His children and grandchildren were his entire world and every piece of advice he gave came directly from the bible. He was that uncle that showed affection by squeezing all the kid's cheeks at every family event. He was thoughtful, loving and extremely giving with all that he had.

Due to the ongoing COVID– 19 pandemic and current public safety measures, a private funeral service will be held at St. James Armenian Apostolic Church in Watertown. He will be laid to rest by his sisters' side at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Watertown. Social distancing and face masks will be required for everyone’s safety to comply with federal and state public health and safety measures.

Floral Arrangements should be sent directly to St. James Armenian Church on February 4th by 9am. Donations to St. James Armenian Church can also be made in lieu of flowers.
