Obituary

Jeanne Eleanor Andrews Downey passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, January 23, 2021. She was the eldest daughter of the late Geraldine Gammons and Augustus Andrews of Brockton.

Jeanne was the anchor of the family who was passionate about helping her family stay united. She took great joy in her grandchildren and handing down her passion for sewing, knitting, quilting and music. Jeanne relished in sharing the important moments in her family’s lives, often passing these milestones on her deck overlooking the ocean. She enjoyed researching her family history and sharing this knowledge. She would say, “This is who we are, this is where we are from.”

Jeanne was an avid reader and enjoyed historical fiction. Jeanne also had a beautiful voice and could be found singing in the choir at St. Bonaventure’s or with the Plymouth Festival Chorus.

In her earliest days she was called upon to serve others. She found her calling as a nurse, first in labor and delivery at Brockton Hospital, and lastly overseeing the care of many elderly men and women at Benchmark Assisted Living in Plymouth. Truly ushering in and out the bookends of life.

Jeanne was blessed with a large family and is survived by her 9 brothers and sisters: Carol Clifford, Christine Belcher, David Andrews, Diana Wise, Donald Andrews, John Andrews, Maryann Andrews, Paul Andrews and Rick Andrews and the late Geraldine Andrews and Kathleen Andrews.

Jeanne was surrounded by love and support from her 5 children and their spouses: Mark and Shelly Pagnotta, Paula and Dean Schlosser, Brendon and Kelly Downey, Eleacia and Bob Fredette and Erin and Arron Capron. Her greatest joy was her 11 grandchildren: Alyssa & Samuel Pagnotta, Jacob, Jenna, Jonah and Jaxon Schlosser, Alex and Katie Fredette and Maxfield, Norra and Graham Capron.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at St. Bonaventure Church, 803 State Rd., Plymouth, MA. Masks must be worn and social distancing observed. Due to COVID restrictions, a wake is not planned at this time and the family will host a celebration of life memorial at a later date. For online condolences please visit conleyfuneralhome.com. In lieu of flowers donations in Jeanne’s name may be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360.
