Josephine C. “Josie” (Martorana) Luongo, of Lynnfield, former longtime resident of Medford, passed away on Tuesday, January 5th. She was 91. Born in Boston, she was the cherished daughter of the late Michael and Isabelle (Vecchia) Martorana.

Josie loved to spend time with her family. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time watching her grandchildren swim and play in her pool, entertaining them with various projects and never turning down babysitting when needed. Josie was a very social woman and enjoyed talking and spending time with her friends.

When Josie was not spending time with her family and friends, she enjoyed playing bingo; going on trips to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun, clothes shopping at various stores and spending time watching the home shopping liquidation channel where she loved to buy jewelry for everyone.

Josephine was the loving wife of 69 years to John J. Luongo. She was the devoted mother of Debbie Luongo, Karen A. Doto and her husband Martin, and the late John Luongo and his surviving wife Tina. She was the loving Nana of Vanessa Meyers and her husband Ben, Gabrielle Doto, and Tara, Jeanna, Adrienne "AJ" and Renee Luongo. She was the Great Nana of Julianna and Vincent Meyers, Robert and William Luongo. She was the dear sister of Frankie, Anna and Albert Martorana. She was the loving Nana to her furry grandchild Lexie. Josie is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

In behalf of Josie’s family funeral services are private. An inurnment at Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden, will be held on a later date.
