GILL, Francis M. 88, Sgt. BPD (Ret) of Roslindale, died peacefully on January 5, 2021. He is predeceased by his wife, Cecilia (Constantine) and his brothers John and Joseph. He was the loving father of Christina and her husband George, Elizabeth and her partner Richard, and Michael F. of the BPD. He was the proud grandfather of Rachel and Desmond who will miss him very much.

He also leaves his brother Andrew and his wife Marie of Stoneham, many nieces, nephews and their children and countless people whose lives he touched.

Frank or “Gill” as he was often called, spent his life in service. He was proud to serve his country in the Army during the Korean War. He spent nearly 40 years serving the Boston Police Department, first as a patrolman and then as a sergeant. Frank was a 1975 graduate of Boston State College Dean's List with a BA in History. He was one of the founders of the Boston Police Historical Museum. After retiring in 1998, Frank worked for the Retired Boston Police Association and was involved with the Emerald Society. Frank was deeply devoted to his Catholic faith and served as an usher at Holy Name Church for many years.

Frank’s children express their sincerest and deepest gratitude to everyone at Springhouse Assisted Living for treating their dad like royalty and caring for him as if he were their own.

Visiting hours at the William J. Gormley Funeral Home 2055 Centre St. WEST ROXBURY, Monday, January 11th from 10:30-11:30am followed by a Funeral Mass in Holy Name Church at 12 o’clock. Relatives and friends invited to attend completely based on your personal comfort level during this pandemic. Please do not feel obligated. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Frank’s memory to Boston Police Relief Association, 1249 Hyde Park Ave., Boston, MA 02136
