Dominic D. Pennachio, Sr.

Dominic Pennachio, Sr., a resident of Woburn, MA for over sixty years, passed away from COVID on Wednesday, December 30, 2020. He was 96 years old. Dominic was the beloved husband of the late Helen (Sarno) Pennachio. Born and raised in Boston`s North End, Dominic was one of eight children of the late Rocco and Maria R. (Iacoviello) Pennachio.

A WWII veteran, Dominic enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in May of 1943 and became a proud member of the 492 Bomb Squadron. He fought in the Asiatic Theatre rising to the rank of Sargent. He received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon with 3 bronze stars and was honorably discharged on April 19, 1945.

Dominic and his wife Helen, settled in Woburn and raised their three children. He is survived by Dominic Jr and his wife Marilyn, Maria (Pennachio) Siraco and her husband Mike, and Michael and his wife Andree; six grandchildren, Katie and her husband Kevin, Alessandra and her husband Bob, Dan and his fiancée Samm, Michael and his wife Christine, Alex and his fiancée Christina, and Marissa. He is also the proud great-grandfather of Elena, and is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews.

Dominic worked for over 40 years for Brigham`s Ice Cream and Candy, making candy for the company at their Cambridge, and South Boston facilities, and then as the production manager of their ice cream plant in Arlington. Dominic had many hobbies. An avid baker, he was known for his Easter bread teddy bears and his family`s favorite, Christmas cannoli. He also had a passion for gardening, spending winters pouring over seed catalogs, starting his own vegetables and eagerly waiting to get outdoors. Each year he shared the fruits of his labor of love with family, friends, and neighbors. A gentle man who greeted everyone with a warm smile, Dominic will be greatly missed.

Due to the current health pandemic and out of concern for everyone's safety funeral services will be private. It has been requested that in lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Dominic's memory to the Gary Sinise Foundation www.garysinisefoundation.org.
