“Dad, Pop, Papa and Sonny, we love you more!”

Eugene J. “Sonny” LeBlanc, lifelong resident of Medford, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, December 26th. He was 91. Born in Somerville, he was the son of the late Joseph LeBlanc, Avis (Rogers) LeBlanc Moran and the stepson of Clarence J. Moran. Sonny enlisted into the United States Army in the summer of 1946 from Forts Banks. He worked for the Medford Highway Department for 35 years. He was friends to many fellow employees and even after his retirement those friendships continued.

Sonny loved to spend time with his family, especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sonny’s family was his pride and joy, they were his world. When Sonny was not spending time with his family you could find him in his garden, he had a green thumb; all flowers and vegetables were constantly growing and blooming. A natural craftsman, Sonny loved to create handmade masterpieces. He was famous for his Santa sleighs, flower pots, wishing wells and yard ornaments. Sonny was an avid fisherman and hunter. He enjoyed playing the lottery daily and played the same numbers religiously (his great granddaughter’s birthday).

Sonny was the beloved husband of 71 years to the late Nancy (Belcastro) LeBlanc. He was the devoted father “Pop” of Linda White and her partner Linda Mahon of Stoneham, Carol Lundin and her late husband Kevin of Saugus, Ann Marie LeBlanc Balian and her late husband Dave of Medford and the late Jackie Cronin. He was the loving Papa of Joey “Meatball” Lundin and his wife Katie “Finn” of Seabrook, NH, Julie “Beautiful” Lundin and her fiance Mike Bayliss, of Saugus. He was the great Papa of his sweethearts Taylor Ventrice of Saugus and Savannah Rose Lundin of Seabrook, NH. He was the dear brother of Bruce Moran and his wife Sharon, of NH, and the late Alice Campbell and her husband Arthur, Barbara (LeBlanc) Cronin, Richard LeBlanc and his wife Fran, Don LeBlanc and his wife Mary, Doug Moran and his wife Barbara, and Mickey Moran. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

On behalf of Sonny’s family, all funeral services are private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Eugene’s name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Memorials Processing, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 381059959. Late WWII War Veteran.
