VEANN C. (MILLER) CAMPBELL, 1944 – 2020, Age 76: Lynn, MA – Mrs. VeAnn Carol (Miller) Campbell, 76, of Lynn, MA passed away on Saturday, December, 19, 2020, at the Life Care Center of the Northshore in Lynn, MA. She was the wife of the late David A. Campbell of Salem, MA, with whom she shared 46 years of marriage.
Born in Lynn, MA, VeAnn was the daughter of the late George I. Miller and Betty A. (Spiliotis) Kozikowski of Peabody, MA. Raised in Lynn, MA, she was a 1962 graduate of Lynn Classical High School. VeAnn began employment soon after school as a bank teller and the following year began a new job at the Hoague-Sprague Company in Lynn, where she would meet her husband David. After marriage and moving to Beverly in 1965, VeAnn attended the Mansfield Beauty Academy but went on to obtain other certifications, eventually becoming a unit-secretary in both Beverly and Salem Hospitals.
In the early 1980’s VeAnn and her husband moved back to Salem and opened a convenience market in Lynn called Lee’s, named after her stepfather, Leo Kozikowski. VeAnn especially loved interacting with and assisting customers but after the store closed and her children married, VeAnn became a Foster Parent as well as a Specialized Home Care Provider, caring for children and elderly alike. In the 1990’s while a parishioner at St. Joseph’s Church, VeAnn volunteered to pass out a few grocery bags to local families in need. This event led her to found St. Joseph’s Food Pantry which grew under her direction into one of the largest food pantries on the North Shore, that offered far more than food to North Shore Residents. The accolades and honors she gained at this pinnacle of her life meant nothing to her if somebody was suffering, cold and lonely and she knew about it. VeAnn was also keenly aware that her success stood on the generous support of local business owners and numerous donors in the City of Salem and surrounding communities.
VeAnn was a very kind, generous and giving woman. She purposefully looked for the challenges in life and was one to blatantly step forward into situations or face individuals that others just couldn’t manage or tolerate. She was one to fight for the underdog, and be they sinner or saint, she would understand and help them.
Mrs. Campbell leaves behind three children: Julia A. (Campbell) Anaya and her husband Martin of Lynn, MA; Linda A. (Campbell) MacDonald of Salem, MA; and Peter E. Campbell and his wife Evelyn of Peabody, MA., and a son-in-law, Benjamin P. Cauble of Bedford, NH. She is predeceased by her daughter, Anna B. Cauble, who passed away earlier this year on March 2. VeAnn was blessed with 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Jared S. Standley of Brighton, MA, Matthew R. Standley and his wife Kelly of Greenland, NH; Hogan R. Donahue of Lebanon, TN, Marshall L. Donahue of Lynn, MA, Talya C. Donahue of Lynn, MA; Kateri T. Campbell, Chiara M. Campbell, Joshua D. Campbell, Cecilia A. Campbell, Zelie M. Campbell, Veronica R. Campbell, Jacob A. Campbell and Bridget F. Campbell from Peabody, MA. Great grandchildren are Joel V. Heredia of Lynn, MA and Callan Standley of Greenland, NH.
A Funeral Mass will be held for VeAnn C. Campbell at St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell Street, Peabody, MA on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at 11:00AM. Immediately following the funeral, a procession will ensue to Puritan Lawn for a graveside ceremony.
