Obituary

Anne T. (McLaughlin) Sisk, 91, of Wellesley and West Dennis, died December 1, 2020 beside her children. She will be joining her beloved husband, Joseph W. Sisk, Jr. to whom she was married to for 58 years. Devoted mother of Joseph W. Sisk III, John T. Sisk and his wife Alicia Carrillo of Sudbury, Deirdre A. Hearn and her husband Roger of Wellesley, Brian P. Sisk and his wife Felicia of Millis, and Moira A. Vahey and her husband Edward of Wellesley and Edward's children Samantha and Elizabeth. Grandmother to Kate, Forest, Patrick, Griffin, Grace, Margaret, Charlotte and Owen.

Anne was proud of her Irish heritage. She was the first member of her family to be born in the United States. Her sister Mary McCarthy and her parents, John and Maria McLaughlin emigrated to Brookline, MA from Galway, Ireland in 1926. She was a graduate of Brookline High School. Anne married the cutest boy at Brookline High School, Joe Sisk, and together they created a life in Wellesley for 60 wonderful years. Anne was a devout Catholic, a volunteer with the CCD program at St. Paul Church and Brownie leader. She loved her annual gin & tonic and onion dip looking out at the Bass River from her home in Wrinkle Point every summer for the past 55 years. She was a dedicated mother getting her five children to soccer, gymnastics, scouting and ballet all the while never having a driver’s license. We will remember our mother as having a quick sense of humor and a beautiful smile.

She was laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury after a funeral mass at St. Paul Church, Wellesley, on Monday, December 7, 2020. Arrangements by George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, Wellesley.

In lieu of flowers, we hope you might consider making a donation to The Wellesley Service League (219 Washington Street, Wellesley, MA 02481). Our Mother enjoyed the Friendship Circle lunches they provided on Mondays for the senior women in our town. It was the highlight of her week in her last years and she benefited from the companionship that this organization provided. Even during Covid, these volunteers arranged for lunches to be delivered in wonderful gift baskets to their homes, hand written notes in the mail and phone calls to check in on senior women in Wellesley.
