Obituary

Beverly Joan Boemecke (Sinders), age 86, of Ventura, CA, passed away on Nov 22, 2020. Beverly was born in La Porte City, IA to parents Gilbert Claude and Edith Iona (McNamee) Sinders on May 17,1934. She was raised on a farm with her siblings. She sang with her sisters in church and harmonized in a singing group as an older teen. She graduated from high school in May, 1951. She spotted the love of her life, Joe, that same year while he was playing accordion in a band. They were married on April 27,1955 at Sacred Heart Church in Waterloo, IA and celebrated over 43 years of blissful marriage. They traveled for work throughout the country, settling in Los Angeles in 1958. Beverly was a very loving and committed mother to each of her two daughters and the main focus of her life was being a home-maker. Bev and Joe moved to Pacific Palisades in 1972 and enjoyed every day of their 27 years living there. She loved spending time with her many special friends. Her hobbies included astronomy, gardening, sewing, bird watching, reading, writing, day trips, painting, games-especially cards, perusing cookbooks, and hosting parties. She also loved the cats she had in her life. In the 1990s Joe was the accordionist and a vocalist in the old Western group “The Original Riders of the Purple Sage.” Bev sold their CDs at their shows and helped with promotion, recording and the group’s travel plans.

She is survived by her daughter Laura (Kevin) Clark of Ventura, CA, her grandchildren Allison Clark of NY, NY, Danielle Clark, and Tyler Clark. She is survived by her brother Ed (Peggy) Sinders of Houston, TX, her sister Betty (Owen) Wood of Cedar Falls, IA and her brother Bob (Peg) Sinders of Waterloo, IA. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph (Joe) Boemecke on April 8, 1999, her parents Gilbert and Edith Sinders, her daughter Veronica Boemecke on November 15, 1967, her sister Jeanette (Ed) Steiner, and her brother Jerry Dean Sinders. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Rowe Residence and Aegis Assisted Living Facility both of which made her last years truly the best possible.
