SPRINGFIELD – Maurice A. “Moe” Pepin, 87, of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, November 22, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Livermore Falls, Maine on August 4, 1933, a beloved son of the late Roland J. and Germaine A. (Bernard) Pepin. His family moved to Springfield in 1942 where he was raised and graduated from Cathedral High School in Springfield. He served his country during the Korean War in the United States Army and attained the rank of Private First Class. He received the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal. He was employed as a painting contractor and real estate landlord for many years and co-owned and operated Pepin Brothers Painting Contractors, retiring in 1999. During his leisure time, he enjoyed bowling, motorcycling, playing basketball and boating at the Oxbow Marina in Northampton. Above all, he loved spending time with family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife, Patricia A. (DeBarge) LeFeave Pepin. They were married on January 15, 1988 in Springfield and were blessed with over 32 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving sons, Maurice P. “Butch” Pepin and his wife, Denise, of Sebastian, FL, David M. Pepin of Agawam, Daniel J. Pepin and his partner, Paul Contreras, of San Diego, CA and Scott R. Pepin and his wife, Cheryl, of Chicopee; his two loving stepchildren, William H. LeFeave of Springfield and Robin A. Ranck and her husband, Edward, of Wilbraham; his two cherished grandchildren, Christine and Richard Pepin; his four cherished step-grandchildren, Andrea Arnold and her husband, Michael, Olivia and Zachary Ranck and John “Jack” LeFeave; his dear brother, Paul F. Pepin and his wife, Nancy, of Springfield; his dear brother-in-law, Howard “Rusty” DeBarge and his partner, Melinda, of Oviedo, FL; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. His family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104, (please meet directly at the Church). His burial will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. His family will receive friends on Monday, November 30, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177) 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home and Church capacity is limited due to state regulations).
