Constance A. "Connie" (Jacquel) Houle

WESTFIELD – Constance A. “Connie” (Jacquel) Houle, 76, of Westfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, November 19, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in King City, CA on March 14, 1944, a beloved daughter of the late Serge E. and Jeanne A. (Laramee) Jacquel. She was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated from Precious Blood High School in Holyoke and lived in Chicopee until moving to Westfield in 2003. She worked as a Home Health Aide for Home Staff Health Services and was also a cook at Kirby Junior High School. She was an accomplished Square and Round Dancer along with her husband, Leonard. They dedicated their social lives to the square dance activities throughout the country where they’ve received numerous awards: WM Co-op DSA 1990, 1991 GC of NESARDC, 1996-98 President of EDSARDA, 1995 VP of the SDFNE, 1998 Induction into the Square Dance Hall of Fame,1998-2020 Secretary of NE Co-op, 2008-2009 President of the USDA, 2014 Pinnacle Award for outstanding leadership, professionalism and dedication to Square and Round dance activity, presented by NE Callers School, 2013 Board of Directors for the NEC, 2015 GC Spfld NSDC. She also enjoyed camping, cruising, traveling, and most especially spending time playing cards with her family and friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Leonard A. Houle. They were married on November 28, 1963 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 56 years of happiness together. She also leaves her four loving children, Thomas L. Houle of Chicopee, Timothy A. Houle of Belmont, MA, Karen M. Boisjolie of Chicopee and Jennifer L. Hale of Westfield; her three cherished grandchildren, Taylor Boisjolie, Amanda Hale, and Jonathon Hale; her cherished great-grandson, Noah Diaz; her dear brother, Thomas Jacquel and his wife, Marguerite, of Westfield; her two sisters-in-law, Yvette Choquette and her husband, Hank, of Granby, and Betty Sue Houle of Davenport, FL; and her many nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her two brothers-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” Houle and his wife, Marlene, and Roger “Raymond” Houle; and her sister-in-law, Lorraine Bouchard and her husband, Louis. Her Funeral will be held on Friday, January 8, 2021 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sainte Rose de Lima Church, 600 Grattan Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Burial will be private. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. concluding with reflections of Connie’s Life at 6:30 p.m. (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home and Church capacity is limited due to state regulations).
