Obituary

Daniel F. Connors, Jr., age 91, of Brockton, died November 10, 2020 at his home surrounded by family. Dan was the husband of the late Elaine A. (Fortier) (Beckner) Connors. Born, raised and educated in Brockton, he was the son of the late Daniel F. and Mary (Doherty) Connors, Sr.

Dan served in the US Navy during the Korean War. He was stationed in the Mediterranean onboard the USS Turner DD-834 Destroyer as an Electricians Mate Petty Officer. After serving our country he continued in the electrical industry and became a master electrician and a master pipefitter.

As an entrepreneur, Dan opened an in ground swimming pool business, Aqua Fun Pools in Brockton, the first of its kind in New England. Also, he authored a book, Connors Baseball Guide. He had many licenses, certifications and memberships. He had a broker’s license, he was a freelance press photographer, a hypnotist, an antique dealer and a little league coach. Also, he was a former member of the Local 103 Electricians Union, and a member of the Eastern Poker Tour. He was incredibly talented, and had many hobbies which included, art, handcrafting wooden signs, boating, flea markets, auctions and golfing.

He enjoyed most of his younger years attending his buddy Rocky Marciano’s boxing matches and celebrations. His last days were spent watching Rocky’s boxing matches and sharing stories. Dan really enjoyed spending time with his family and especially watching sports as he was an avid Boston sports fan. He also enjoyed watching his family play sports and was their number one fan! He was a proud dad and grandfather who genuinely enjoyed hearing about his children’s and grandchildren’s accomplishments.

Dan retired after 25 years working with the Titleist & FootJoy Company as their environmental safety manager/maintenance manager.

Dan is survived by his children Linda Connors of Framingham, Darlene Merritt of Brockton, Jason Connors and his wife Kelly of Brockton and stepson Paul Beckner and his wife Pamela of Brockton. He was the father of the late Jill Connors and Kevin Connors and stepfather of the late Suzanne Beckner Hoeg and Ann Marie Mulkey. Grandfather of Julie Ann, Kayla and Kelsey Connors, Ryan Merritt, Amanda, Kim, and Adam Hoeg, Stephen Hughes, Lindsey Mulkey, Paul Beckner, Kaitlyn Beckner and Danny Tirrell; great grandfather, Kyle, Kody, Kevin, Cameron Connors, Leanna and Dejah Newton. Dan was the brother of the late Wayne and Barry Connors. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In following COVID guidelines, masks must be worn, and social distancing observed in both the funeral home and church.

Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton, Monday, November 16, 5-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Tuesday at 9:30am for a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Lourdes Church at 10:30am. Burial will follow in Melrose Cemetery.
