Robert Patrick Carr (Boston Police Department E-18 Retired) of Jamaica Plain died unexpectedly on October 16, 2020. He was the beloved husband of Paula Holmes Carr and the adoring father of Mariah Elisabeth Grace Carr. Son of the late Robert J. and Gertrude (Moran) Carr, he was the beloved brother of Ellen Donnelly (the late Patrick), and the late James Carr. Cherished uncle of Vincent Holmes; Shawn Donnelly (Bethany); Kevin Donnelly; Amy Eberle (Erik); Timothy Donnelly (Ashley); Alexander, Daniel and Nicholas Sargent; and many great nieces and nephews. Beloved brother-in-law of Samuel Holmes (Cynthia); Matthew Holmes (Cynthia); Stacia Holmes; and the late Christopher Holmes (Ann Marie).
Bob grew up in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in Southeast Asia during the Vietnam Conflict. He attended Suffolk University, Boston, and later graduated from Curry College in Milton. Bob served proudly in the Boston Police Department and retired in 2014.
Bob was a voracious reader who took an active interest in current events, loved folk music, and. held the Kingston Trio in highest regard. He loved to take walks with his daughter, his beloved “Puca,” and they would often walk around Jamaica Pond together or window shopping on Centre Street. Bob’s favorite vacation spot was Wellfleet, and his fondest memories were of those spent at the beach with his darling Puca.

Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre Street WEST ROXBURY on Monday, October 26, 2020 from 8:15 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass the Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help "Mission Church" , 1545 Tremont Street, Boston at 10 o’clock. (please follow COVID-19 guidelines at both the funeral home and church). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
