WEST SPRINGFIELD – Louis R. Gagne, 80, of West Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, October 10, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on January 10, 1940, a beloved son of the late Leo and Irene (Daniels) Gagne. He was raised in the South End section of Springfield and later lived in Agawam before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1989, he moved back to Western Massachusetts and settled in West Springfield where he lived the remainder of his life. He was well known as an excellent Chef and was employed for many years in Las Vegas, Nevada as a Room Service Chef at Caesar’s Palace. He also worked in the Western Massachusetts area for Stanley Home Products, Florence Casket Company and the Log Cabin Meeting and Banquet House. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman and was a former member of the Agawam Sportsmen’s Club where he enjoyed their Turkey Shoots. He also played many sports in his younger years and met many celebrities while working at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada. He leaves his two loving daughters, Donna M. Gulow of South Hadley, and Lisa A. Bunker and her husband, Rulon, of Pahrump, NV; his two cherished grandchildren, Jonathan Gulow of Easthampton and Jillian Gulow of Williamsburg, MA; his dear brother, Daniel Gagne of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended family members. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brother, Richard Gagne; his two dear sisters, Gloria Weslowski and her husband, Edward, and Leona Stevens; and his dear sister-in-law, Roberta Gagne. His relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, October 22, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. which will be followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:00 p.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107.
