CHICOPEE – Carl L. Ingram, Sr., 74, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, September 23, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at home surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Springfield on May 10, 1946, a beloved son of the late Theodore and Helen (Bately) Drozodowski. He was raised in South Hadley, graduated from South Hadley High School and enjoyed playing at the beach grounds as a child in South Hadley Falls. He moved to Chicopee in 1974 where he lived the remainder of his life. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was stationed in the Mediterranean Sea and Newport, Rhode Island, attaining the rank of Radarman Third Class. He was employed as a clerk for 25 years for Conrail Transportation in Springfield and later in West Springfield. Following his retirement, he worked in the real estate market and also worked with the local census bureau. He was a member of the Chicopee Lodge of Elks and Chicopee Senior Center. During his leisure time, he enjoyed fishing, politics, researching the stock market and cheering on his New York Yankees, Boston Celtics and New England Patriots. A quiet, reserved man who was devoted to his family and his grandchildren, he could often be found at his “Office” at the Dunkin Donuts on Memorial Drive in Chicopee. He leaves his former wife, Mary M. (Walsh) Ingram of Newport, RI; his two loving sons, Carl L. Ingram, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Chicopee and Shawn P. Ingram of Tiverton, RI; his two cherished grandchildren, Kyle and Katherine Ingram; his two dear brothers, Robert Ingram and his wife, Louise, of Chicopee and Peter Kolnicki of Florida; his two dear sisters, Debra Ingram of Chicopee and Darlene Langevin and her husband, Robert, of Springfield; his six dear nephews, Robert Ingram, Jr., Thomas Ingram and his wife, Lynn, Robert Langevin, Jr., Kurt Ingram, Gary Drozodowski and Tad Drozodowski; his dear niece, Renee Ingram; and his many dear grand nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three dear brothers, Ronald and Richard Ingram and Theodore Drozodowski. Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Home Prayer Service on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 9:15 a.m. at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:15 a.m.). His Committal Service with United States Navy Military Honors will follow the Prayer Service at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001, (please note that masks are required, social distancing must be observed and funeral home and cemetery chapel capacity is limited due to state regulations). His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, September 28, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear.
