Jeannette M.L. (Cimon) Soucy, 93, passed away peacefully at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers on Friday, August 7, 2020 with her family by her side, following a brief illness. She was the loving wife of the late Laurier L. Soucy with whom she had shared 63 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Alonzo V. and Hermance B. (Marchand) Cimon. Jeannette was a graduate of Salem High Class of 1944, and helped run her family owned Danvers Laundry company. She was a loving wife and mother who devoted her life to the care and well being of her family. She loved to cook and to read, and she was an excellent seamstress. Jeannette was also the consummate lady, always kind, gracious and always meticulously well groomed.
Jeannette also had a passion for music. She was a member of St. Joseph Choir and a soloist. As a music lover, Jeannette and Larry were tremendous patrons of many of the local music venues in the area including the Salem Philharmonic. She was a devoted member of the former St. Joseph Parish, volunteering for many of the parish fundraisers, events, and sodalities. She and Larry were honored as the couple of the year for outstanding service to the parish at an annual Legacy Dinner. She was currently a member of Mary Queen of the Apostles Parish. Her presence will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her seven children: Constance M. Chase and husband Robert of N Andover, Suzanne J. Soucy of Hawaii, Joanne M. Swan of Ossining, NY, Mark L. Soucy and wife Maryanne of W Peabody, Patrice M. Bergevin and husband Glenn of Salem, Elaine C. Kanagushiku and husband Clifford of Hawaii and Eileen A. Shahin and husband Omar of Plaistow, NH. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Cimon.
