Dorothy I. Nevius, 85

Dateline: Norton, MA

Dorothy I. (Kapinos) Nevius, age 85, recently of South Kingstown Rhode Island, a former longtime resident of Norton, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Wednesday, July 29, 2020. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald G. Nevius, to whom she was wed for nearly twenty-seven years at the time of his death on April 14, 1983.

Born in Pawtucket, Rhode island on February 14, 1935, she was a loving daughter of the late Wojciech and Anna (Dykton) Kapinos.

Dot grew up in Pawtucket and was a graduate of Tolman High School in Pawtucket. Prior to retiring, she had worked for many years as an assembler at the former Kilburn Glass Co. in the Chartley section of Norton and when younger was employed at Swank Manufacturing in Attleboro.

To say Dorothy’s family was her greatest joy, would be an understatement by far. They were the essence of her life, especially her grandchildren, whom she was so proud of and treasured the times attending their sporting events and always being involved in their life.

Mrs. Nevius was a communicant of Saint Mary’s Church in Norton. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, enjoyed collecting angels, had a sweet tooth for scratching lottery tickets, and loved spending time at the beach, enjoying seafood from Iggy’s.

She is survived by her devoted children: Tamara A. Nyblom of South Kingstown, Rhode Island and Scott D. Nevius and his wife Janice of Mansfield. She was the adoring grandmother of Ashleigh Nyblom, Bryanna Nevius, Branden Nevius and Asa Nyblom. She was the dear sister of the late Frank Kapinos, Benjamin Kapinos, Alfred Kapinos and Matthew Kapinos.

Her funeral Mass at Saint Mary’s Church in Norton followed by burial at the Timothy Plain Cemetery in Norton will be private.

Visiting hours are omitted and those wishing may remember Dorothy with a donation in her memory made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
