John Medley Ray, 75, of Anderson died May 27, 2020 at Community Hospital after an extended illness.
He was born on February 12, 1945 in Anderson to Frank L. and Irene (Lewis) Ray.
He was a Union Carpenter for 28 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and the out doors. He was a member of Carpenter Union; NRA member and Ovid Conservation Club.
He is survived by his wife, Tonya Kay (Smith) Ray; three children, Angela (Mike) Shively of Anderson, Michelle (Mike) Bender of Indianapolis and John Ray II (Tina Taylor) of Anderson; brother, Pete (Joyce) Ray of Anderson; six grandchildren, Brady Shively, Evan Shively, Shanelle Bender, Kendra Graves, Jessica Hiday, Blake Cody; four great-grandchildren, Adrianna Reece, Zayden Jones, Eli Shively and Garrett Shively; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Frank L. Ray, Jr., Mary Capshaw and Penny Peterson.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 13, 2020, at 1 p.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Ned Clark officiating.
Cremation took place. Visitation will be held Saturday from 11 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be given to Humane Society.
