Joseph V. Germano, 86, of Hillsboro Beach, Florida, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 at North Broward Hospital in Deerfield Beach, FL. He was the husband and best friend of Carolyn M. (Bell) Germano. They had been married for 62 years.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Carmelo Germano and Josephine (Melito) Bisazza. A resident of Hillsboro Beach, FL for the past 20 years, he previously lived in Smithfield, RI, where he raised his family.
After serving our country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, he went on to have a 30-year career as an executive for the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), retiring in 1988. He then spent 10 years as General Manager at Daniele, Inc. in Pascoag, RI. While living in FL, he volunteered with the Hillsboro Beach Police Department and served as president of the board at his condominium.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Carolyn, and children: Joanne Rahl of Colchester, CT and John Germano and his wife, Laurie, of Reston, VA; his grandchildren, Jennifer Rahl of Lebanon, CT, Michael Rahl and his wife, Alissa, of Kalamazoo, MI, Erica Germano of Reston, VA, Krista Germano and her husband, Garrett Stevens-Palmer, of Arlington, VA, Niki Germano of Brookhaven, GA; his great grandchildren, Nicholas, Luke, and Alexa DePiano and Audrey, Emma, and Benjamin Rahl; and his siblings, Domenic Germano and his wife, Frances, of Tewksbury, MA, Cosmo Bisazza and his wife, Jane, of Henderson, NV, and Maria Totilo of Danvers, MA. He was predeceased by his son, Joseph D. Germano, son-in-law, Donald Rahl, and brother-in-law, Alfonso Totilo.
He was a dedicated husband, proud father, loving grandpa, and loyal friend. If someone needed help, he was always the first to lend a hand. He was quick with a joke and had the best smile to match. He will be forever missed.
