Gloria M. (Galipeau) LaMarche

CHICOPEE ~ Gloria M. (Galipeau) LaMarche, 81, of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, February 20, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall East Nursing Home in Agawam surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on January 7, 1939, the beloved daughter of the late Henri J. and Ettie M. (Hache) Galipeau. She was raised in Holyoke, graduated from the former Precious Blood High School in Holyoke in 1957 and had moved to Chicopee in 1960 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed for 25 years at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, culminating as an Executive Secretary and retired in 2003. Active in her Catholic faith, she was a communicant, choir member and member of the Saint Anne Sodality Guild of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. She also was a longtime and active volunteer at the Fairview Knights of Columbus Council 4044 in Chicopee with their many events including their weekly bingo games and monthly spaghetti suppers. During her leisure time, she loved shopping, cooking and music. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her two loving sons, Colonel Raymond E. LaMarche, Jr. (USAF, Retired) and his wife, Karen, of Havre de Grace, MD and Gerard R. LaMarche and his wife, Lesley, of Southampton; her six cherished grandchildren, U.S. Army CWO2 Garrett LaMarche, Ethan and Kerri LaMarche, Brigette Achille and her husband, Chris, Eric LaMarche and his wife, Nari, and Andrew LaMarche; and her many dears cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her dear brother, Reverend Roland J.H. Galipeau who was Called Home on January 23, 2013. Her funeral will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, February 28, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. prior to morning prayers at the funeral home and the Mass. The funeral home parking lot is located in the rear.
