Ronald R. "Ronnie" Rossini

SPRINGFIELD – Ronald R. “Ronnie” Rossini, 73, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Thursday, December 19, 2019. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Springfield on July 31, 1946, a beloved son of the late Raymond J. and Edna C. (Keefe) Rossini. He was raised in Springfield, graduated from the former High School of Commerce and was a lifelong resident of Springfield. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class. Following his military service, he returned to Springfield and graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Holyoke Community College. He was employed for the City of Springfield Waste Water Department at Bondi’s Island and retired around 2003. During his younger years, Ronnie was a drummer for the Treblos Band in Springfield. He was a longtime communicant of the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield and following the closing of the church, he became a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. Most of all, he loved his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Donna M. (Kenney) Rossini. They were married on September 12, 1970 at the former Our Lady of Hope Church in Springfield and were blessed with over 49 years together. He also leaves his two loving children, Robin L. Rossini of Chicopee and Ray A. Rossini and his wife, Vanessa, of Agawam; his three cherished grandchildren whom he adored, Samuel and Benjamin Halley and Raven Rossini; his two dear sisters, Donna M. Shenkman of Carmel, NY and Debra A. Donovan and her husband, Paul, of Westfield; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Rossini and Keefe families. His funeral will be held on Friday, December 27, 2019 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8:00 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. His Committal Service with United States Army Military Honors will follow the Mass at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 26, 2019 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. His family requests that memorial donations be made in his memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226.
