Linda G. (Paradis) Lavigne

SOUTH HADLEY – Linda G. (Paradis) Lavigne, 78, of South Hadley, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, December 1, 2019. She passed into Eternal Life at Linda Manor Extended Care Facility in Leeds surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Holyoke on December 20, 1940, a beloved daughter of the late John L. Paradis and Rhea R. (Lasonde) Paradis Vient. She was raised in Chicopee, graduated Pro Merito from Chicopee High School, and attended UMass in Amherst. She moved to South Hadley in 1966 where she lived the remainder of her life. She began her banking career in 1960 at Holyoke Savings Bank which later became Vanguard Bank, where she was active as a bookkeeper, teller, branch manager, mortgage department, and supervised in organization and servicing, mortgage and loan underwriting, and Quality Control. Due to mergers and closings, she continued her career working at various other banking institutions such as SIS, Easthampton Savings Bank, Polish National Credit Union and Westbank where she worked in the Indirect Lending Department with auto dealers. She was a communicant at Saint Theresa of Lisieux Church in South Hadley where she was a member of the folk choir many years ago. Most of all, Linda loved her family and showered them with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 19 years, Alfred R. Lavigne who was Called Home on April 13, 1980 and her dear brother, Michael L. Vient who was Called Home on December 7, 2005. She leaves her loving son, Alan R. Lavigne and his wife, Laurie, of Easthampton; her three cherished grandchildren, Anthony R. Lavigne and his wife, Phylicia, Rachael M. Allen and her husband, Tyson, and Shauna K. Lavigne; several great-grandchildren; her dear sister, Susan I. Mason of Salem, OR; her dear sisters-in-law, Diane Vient of Chicopee and Doris Clark of South Hadley; Her dear longtime companion of over 20 years, Chauncey “Ed” Bryant of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and extended members of the Lavigne, Paradis, Vient, Clark and Pollard families. A graveside service will be held at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee in the spring. The St. Pierre- Phaneuf Fairview Chapels (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 is assisting the family with her arrangements.
