Kathleen Modeste
10/16/2019

Kathleen “Kathy” Modeste, 68, a devoted and virtuous Mother and a long-time resident of Boston, Massachusetts departed to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 16, 2019. She was born to Aubrey and Eunicia Richards in Los Bajos, Trinidad on April 3, 1951. She was definitely destined to be a child of God and at yet a tender age, she was baptized at The Reform Baptist Church of St. Peters in Trinidad, on August 4, 1951.

Kathy was able to operate in her purpose of helping others at an early age. She worked diligently to cultivate the dreams of others, by selflessly giving through exercising her unwavering faith and trust in God believing that when she ask and it shall be given. Kathy's heart drove others to hear from God. She proclaimed God, spoke into your life and as a result you never left the way you came. Kathy's God given words helped many to transform. As Romans 12:2 reads "And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.

As a young lady, she became a spiritually certified teacher, counselor and guardian/caregiver. Kathy was known in her community as a fashion icon setting trends by creating new styles for others immolate. Her dream was to become a nurse but when that dream was deferred due to unforeseen circumstances, again, she leaned on her faith leaving Trinidad. She journeyed abroad seeking opportunities in hope to exercise her God given gifts and talents to the fullest extent possible.

Her professional life took flight in December of 1972 where she began a career at Massachusetts General Hospital as Accounting Clerk, Keypunch Operator and Lead Senior Computer Operator. Kathy consistently met the high demands of her job and served honorably over 40 years. As well, her personal life was equally if not more demanding and as a single parent, she raised two sons, family members and a host of friends. Nothing stood in her way to improve herself. She sharpened her mind academically by completing an Associate's of Arts degree in Liberal Arts and Nursing. In 1995, Kathy became a Registered Nurse and began to live out her life-long dream. In 1997 - 2004, she showcased her God given talents at Newton Health Care Center and then transferred to Epoch of Weston in 2001 - Jan 2019 as a Charge Nurse.

She stood firm against every impossibility of life, with an unmovable faith; persevering where others may have given up. Her faith was her moniker, which helped her to endure the journey of 68 years of life that God gave her. God's purpose for Kathy connected to not only those who were close to her but also those who struggled to hold onto their own lives as well as those who were afraid to let go. She has impacted many people and her sweet-calm spirit will live on in all of us forever.

Her parents precede her in death. She leaves her sons, sisters, brothers, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends to celebrate her life.

Visiting with her family will be held at the Brady & Fallon Funeral Home 10 Tower St. (Opp. Forest Hills MBTA Station) Jamaica Plain on Wednesday October 23 from 1-3 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
