Obituary

Pricile Emmanuella Cherfils (née Cénat Carte) was the epitome of quiet strength, grace and poise. She was a woman of faith, love and laughter who was born on October 22, 1947 in Pétion-ville, Haiti. The daughter of the Reverend Felixfort Cénat Carte and Doris May Louis, Pricile graduated from a local lycée and went on to study at a secretarial school before joining the staff of Aide aux Enfants, a health center for children.

Pricile married her sweetheart, Jacques D. Cherfils, at L’Eglise Baptiste de Delmas pastored by the Reverend Luc Néré. The couple celebrated 48 years of marriage. She later emigrated to the United States where the pair worked and raised their family. Pricile was a God-loving, hard-working and giving woman who devoted her life to family. To many, she was also a faithful friend and mentor, a wise advisor who sought to make a difference in people’s lives, whether through a caring gesture or a kind word of encouragement.

We all loved her and she knew we loved her. At age 71, she died on September 29, 2019 in her husband’s arms, the person she loved the most and who loved her most. When asked how he was feeling, our dad said, “I regret nothing, nothing, nothing about our life together.”

A service of remembrance celebrating the life of Pricile will be held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at Tabernacle Baptist Congregation, 575 American Legion Highway, Boston, MA, 02131. Family visitation from 8:30am – 9:30am. Service: 9:30am – 11am. Immediately following the service, interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, 45 Fairview Avenue, Boston, MA 02136.

Pricile is survived by her loving husband, Jacques D. Cherfils; three sisters: Marie-Marthe Bénêche (Joseph Bénêche, husband), Marie Elie, Betty Cénat Carte; four children: Natchez Cherfils Bertrand (Marco Bertrand, husband), Gladys Cherfils (Bernado Romain, partner), Mildrade Cherfils (David Rothe, partner), Deborah Cherfils (Andrew Gardner, partner); six grandchildren: Alexis R.
